How the link checker works

Scam links arrive by text, email, social media and ads. Opening them can be enough to land on a fake login page. Our checker opens the link for you on our server, so you never have to, and shows you where it really goes.

What we check

  • The real destination: we follow every redirect and short link to the final website.
  • The website’s age: from the official domain registry. Scam sites are often only days old.
  • Known threat lists: Google Safe Browsing, when it’s turned on.
  • Look-alike tricks: brand names in fake addresses, look-alike characters, risky endings and hidden redirects.

What if I already clicked?

If you entered a password, change it now and turn on two-step verification. If you entered card or bank details, call your bank using the number on your card. Then report the scam.

Can you spot a scam?

Ten real-looking messages. Tap “Scam” or “Safe” and see how you do. Takes two minutes.

  3. Know what to do next. Get clear next steps, add reminders to your calendar, ask questions, or have a reply written for you.
